Sean NewtonSean
3 year old Cat

"Sean came from a litter of 8, along with his brother Basil, who we also
have. As a kitten he was relatively well behaved! When he went in to be castrated
he had an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic, which caused him to have a
stroke and for the following three days he was blind and leaning to the left.
He received two steroid injections and recovered to a good level.
About 6 months later he started to have a dribbly nose and soon after
that began fitting. After a number of visits to the vets, we were referred
to the
Bristol Feline Centre where after a number of tests we were told that Sean
had a hepatic shunt, he had 12 – 18 months to live. 18 months on he is
still very much alive and getting better every day.
When Tace suggested Sean came in to have a massage, we were a little sceptical
about what good it would do him. He has now been for massage treatment about
6 times now and absolutely loves coming. He is showing improvement more and
more each week."

What Tace Says:
A portosystemic (hepatic) shunt is an abnormal problem in which the blood
vessels bypass the liver, therefore creating blood flow around the liver and
not allowing toxic components of the blood to be detoxified by the liver. This
in turn results in elevated toxin levels such as ammonia, which causes abnormalities
to the central nervous system.
I thought massage would help increase the blood flow around the body, therefore
encouraging the excess toxins to be removed from the body completely. At present
Sean seems to have made a remarkable recovery since his first massage session
and I am told his vet is in shock at his recovery too!
